Final Journey, a 9/11 Memorial
work in progress

To memorialize the tragic deaths of the fallen US Naval Academy Graduates, this sculpture has been creative to express the hope of their final journey these men made to their new home in heaven. Carried by his guardian angel, the deceased body is cradled tightly by the strength and majesty of this heavenly creature, who shows his sympathy in expression for the tragic way this servant of our nation passed. The angel has been designed to be off the ground having taken off for the journey. The angel will have a pair of wings (shown in a photo below). The heavenly bound direction of his wings and arm express the purpose of his mission. The earthbound direction of the Officer's head and arm both symbolize his reluctance to accept this sudden and unwelcome departure from earth.

Piece as shown as a work in progress but will be cast in bronze.
